Past Online Course (2024): Polyvagal-informed Nervous System Support and the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)
Date: 19.03.2024 — 23.04.2024

Dates: 19.03.2024 — 23.04.2024
Format: 6-week online group programme
Schedule: Weekly meetings (Tuesdays, 5:00–8:00 pm, GMT+2)
The course aims to give you integrative therapeutic tools that can help you to become more connected, regulated and resilient via non-invasive, vagus nerve stimulation. It aims to retrain your nervous system to work in relax&connect mode instead of habitual fight-or-flight or shutdown modes.
Discover the Power of Polyvagal-Informed Therapy
In today’s fast-paced world, managing stress is crucial for overall well-being. This course is designed to equip you with essential skills to navigate life’s challenges with ease.
Through a series of 6 interactive online sessions, you’ll delve into the fascinating science behind polyvagal theory and learn practical techniques to regulate your autonomic nervous system response. Whether you’re seeking relief from anxiety, depression, or simply looking to enhance your overall mental health, this course offers invaluable insights and strategies.
Each session is carefully curated to provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to thrive. From understanding the role of the vagus nerve in stress management to practicing polyvagal-informed self-regulation techniques, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your body’s natural responses and how to optimize them for greater well-being.
This course also includes group therapy sessions and hands-on exercises to reinforce your learning and empower you to apply these techniques in real-life situations. Plus, you’ll have access to a 5-week music therapy programme, allowing you to experience the transformative effects of filtered therapeutic music from the comfort of your own home. ![]()

Experience the Therapeutic Power of Filtered Music
Safe and Sound protocol (SSP) harnesses the therapeutic potential of filtered music, meticulously designed to engage the middle ear muscles. These specialized algorithms are intricately linked to the vagus nerve, stimulating a branch of the autonomic nervous system responsible for stress regulation, emotional balance, and a profound sense of relaxation and safety.
By activating key regions of the brain associated with higher cognitive functions – including creative problem-solving, abstract thinking, and self-reflection – these music therapy sessions offer more than just relaxation; they empower you to tap into your full mental potential.
Developed by UnyteiLs in collaboration with Dr Stephen Porges, the pioneer of Polyvagal theory, SSP is backed by scientific research, demonstrating its efficacy in addressing conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

Preliminary Research Results:
– 61% of clients who completed the filtered music therapy course transitioned to a non-clinical level of anxiety.
– Depressive symptoms decreased by 39%.
– 63% no longer meet the criteria for PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).
More information about the research and the principles of filtered music therapy can be found here.
Participants who completed the previous course reported overall improvements in mood and emotional state, a sense of resilience in stressful situations, better relationships, improved sleep, enhanced creativity, relief from pain symptoms and tachycardia, reduced levels of anxiety and depression, relaxation of chronically tense muscles, increased mindfulness in information consumption, and greater attention to their own needs.
Selected participant reflections
The course helped me become more aware of how my nervous system responds in everyday situations and how I can shift states more consciously.
What changed most was my ability to pause and choose how to respond, rather than reacting automatically.
This course is for:
– Anyone interested in exploring their own states of autonomic nervous system activation, training the flexibility to transition between different states, and learning skills for their regulation through work with the vagus nerve.
– Therapists who want to learn co-regulation techniques to help clients deal with stress more effectively.
– Parents of children with special needs, who will not only be able to regulate their own autonomous stress response but also help their children through co-regulation skills in relationships and listening to filtered therapeutic music with vagus nerve activation.
To participate in the course, you will need to:
– Attend all 6 online meetings (access via Zoom should be from a laptop/tablet/computer, not a phone).
– Dedicate 30 minutes per day to listening to music protocols independently at home for 5 weeks (each participant will receive personal access to an application with therapeutic music protocols, which should be installed on your phone).
– Have headphones that go over the ears (not earbuds, but full-sized ones!).
