To have money or to be with it?

Have you ever thought about your motivation in making money? What do you need it for? After all, everyone has his own motives and desires. But it is on your needs, and the ability to see and meet them, that the quality of your life largely depends, just as financial freedom depends on your needs, which can be met through money. I am not talking now about the thoughtless consumerism and the race for imaginary freedom inherent in modern man (the more money I have, the more material wealth I will be able to have), it is not about freedom, but rather about slavery. We are talking about freedom, in which the spiritual inner values of man, his highest aspirations, self-expression and self-realization are correlated with external possibilities. People want to be rich for various reasons, for example, to survive and feel safe, for the status and respect of others, to control their lives, and finally — for self-esteem.

If your main need for making money is security and belonging to a separate group, then you can be described as going in the mainstream.

Those for whom the status and respect of others are important are aspirants.

Another category – those who need money to control, we call these people successful.

And finally, those who seek self-esteem (in the best sense of the word) associated with self-actualization in the world can be called reformers.

If you are programmed “to have money,” you subconsciously empower it to have you, condemning yourself to living in a space of thoughtless consumerism. Life is not determined by having, it is only a means to being, so it is important to concentrate not on having, but on correlating between to have and to be. And to shift the emphasis into the space of being, each time ask yourself a question: What am I when I have? Only in this way will you be able to grow in the hierarchy of your needs from the satisfaction of the primary needs for security to the highest needs for self-expression, the realization of personal potential, and as a consequence – self-esteem.

This is an example of how a culture of benefit develops into a culture of human dignity.

If you want to change the crop, you need to strengthen the roots. To change the visible results of your well-being, you need to work on invisible internal programs, way of thinking and feelings, to reconsider actions.

Thoughts, associations, attitudes, beliefs, decisions, actions, habits, inheritances, scenarios and patterns of behavior, as well as emotions, feelings and needs for money make up your financial program, which determines the visible results in life.

Each thought carries a cost of living in your consciousness, it either makes you inwardly richer, or impoverishes and restricts, creating a respective state. One cannot solve problems or change the state at the level of thinking where these problems were created. And in order to change the level of thinking, do not rush to understand, refer to the feelings, learn, recognize, realize, find a relationship with thoughts and beliefs. After all, a person who respects his feelings, and the feelings of others, gives them a place to BE, is a person with a sense of dignity – this is a mature and free person, a reformer who is able to self-actualize in the world, take responsibility, show care and truly appreciate himself and others. Otherwise, we will be doomed to live in a culture of benefit for a long time, and as a consequence — to constantly seek and reproduce our own value from the world, through the people around us, by the presence of things and material wealth.

But millionaire thinking is not enough for professional advancement, earning the amount of money you need, just as gaining inner spiritual freedom will not make you free in the outside world. The conflict of individual independence of the person and social restrictions in society has always existed. The question is, what ways you find to overcome it and what you are able to rely on inside and outside. Yes, you can learn the modern, so-called Western science of success, attend trainings, read Hill, Ecker, Kiyosaki, and learn to “think right,” but none of them had YOUR experience. Behind the thought control and self-programming of the necessary attitudes about money are YOUR feelings and beliefs from childhood, YOUR family habits and YOUR internal conflicts of needs. And whatever the goals with the challenge you set, they will demand to reckon with them, and very often, only slow you down.

A person who is able to recognize and express his feelings creates a message that he is a person worthy of respect. Feelings are a fact of recognition of being, confirmation of existence, an individual indicator of a person’s presence in the world filled from within. They say that you are, that you are a person, their awareness is a recognition of their own human dignity “to be.” A person who is aware and able to adequately express his feelings is a reformer, he is able to express himself, self-develop in contact with the world around him, he is self-actualized and suffers much less. If he is sad, he is sad, he lives through the feeling, not thinks it is bad, and does not make hasty decisions to get rid of the feeling, by fleeing into the thoughts. Suffering is thoughts of dissatisfaction, it is an escape from the presence here and now, it is the inability to accept and express your feelings, to be in them, to live, so as to allow life to manifest in a person as it is. And since dissatisfaction is the first cause of money problems, it becomes the main focus in dealing with this topic in psychotherapy and coaching, followed by the possibility of shifting the focus to how to learn to deal with desires in the best way, taking into account the growth and development of the individual in relations with the environment.

What are your relationships with money? Do you manage to earn as much as you need to realize your desires and what desires do you have? Do you know how to manage your income competently?

A good friend of mine, when heard his friend saying he needs to buy another car with less fuel consumption because of the of gasoline price rising, said a very important thing: “Focus not on how to save, but on how to earn more.”. I liked this phrase at the time and since then, every time I tracked the idea of how to reduce costs, I consciously switched to the search for new business opportunities. Over time, this has become a common way of responding to financial difficulties.

Often, success coaches are advising to step out of your comfort zone consciously and create situations for yourself in which you will find yourself facing a choice: saving – not getting what you want and stay at the usual level of life, or getting out of the zone of material comfort – getting what you want and make your brain look for new options. Start small, for example, go to a restaurant that you always thought you could not afford and choose the best that you like. But don’t think it will magically start working on its own. It should not be confused with squandering!

You have to keep asking yourself open ended questions: “What can I do to earn more?”, “Why would I do that?”, “What other opportunities exist in my business, work and professional development?”. Fortunately, our brain is designed in such a way that it always finds answers, albeit over time. This is the zone for growth and development.

Choose only the best in life: better thoughts, better things, better opportunities, better meanings that can enrich you from within and expand your world.
